Questions From Class (will be updated today as I gather answers)
1. How to do a picture on Twitter (twitpic)?
2. Facebook Insight – Let you see the activity on your Facebook business profile page. Look on the right side of the Facebook page and click View Old Insight. You will see
- How many people have liked your page
- How many people are discussing your page
- Trends in your weekly likes
3. Analytics – I asked if you all were using analytics on your web pages. This is an important feature to use especially if you want to see why people are visiting your website. There are several analytics tools available. My favorite are
- www.statcounter.com
- Google Analytics
Using these sites requires you to access the header and footer code of your site. If you are unfamiliar with this, be sure to ask your web administrator so you don’t mess your site’s functionality.
Once the code is added to the header (or footer), you will see immediately what is driving traffic to your site. Study this information so you can see what is working, and what needs to be improved. This is one of my favorite tasks on my websites!
4. Free Website Resources – Laura mentioned she didn’t have a website and wanted to know how to create one.
- If you are an artist, you may consider listing your products on sites like Etsy or Ebay. You can share your profile link if you need a website to give to potential customers or clients.
- If you wish to buy a website domain, consider using
- Blogger is a free option from Google. You can create a free website using the themes and templates available on Blogger.com. I personally do not recommend this option because if you violate Google’s terms of service, your site can be removed at any time!
- (Not Free) In our class, I mentioned WordPress. I prefer this option because it gives you more control over the site and hosting. Using WordPress (self hosting) will require you to pay for your monthly hosting (around $9/month).
- Log into your linkedin account.
- Click the Companies link in the upper right hand corner.
- Click Add A Company in the upper right hand corner.
- Enter your company name and email address.
- Check the Official Representation verification box.
- Enter the details of your company.
I have all of the evaluations will send you all an update with more answers to the questions posted. Thanks for the interaction and I look forward to answering your questions!
Have a great Sunday!
